Spring Season - Schedule to be Announced
The George Fox Bruins will take a one-point lead in the Northwest Conference standings into the spring portion of their 2010-11 women’s golf season after rallying to win the NWC Fall Classic Oct. 23-24 at the Lost Tracks Golf Course in Bend, Ore. The Fall Classic counts as one quarter of the overall score toward determining the conference champion and the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament that goes with it. The NWC Spring Classic also counts one quarter, and the NWC Championship Tournament counts double, or one half the total.
Points totals for the NWC teams entering the spring: George Fox 8, Whitworth 7, Linfield 6, Whitman 5, Puget Sound 4, Pacific Lutheran 3, Willamette 2, Lewis & Clark 0, Pacific 0 (Lewis & Clark had only two players competing in the Fall Classic, and Pacific withdrew on the second day).
The Bruins’ spring schedule will be announced as soon as the team’s playing dates and sites have been confirmed.
* Recent Results:
Oct. 23-24 - 1st of 9 in Northwest Conference Fall Classic
Led by All-American Brianna Nap’s round of 80, the second-best score of the day, the George Fox Bruins rallied from eight strokes down after the first day to eight strokes ahead, successfully defending their Northwest Conference Women’s Golf Fall Classic championship at the Lost Tracks Golf Course in Bend, Ore. After a 328 on Saturday, George Fox trailed Whitworth by eight and was only one stroke ahead of third-place Linfield. The Bruins shot a 331 on the par 73, 5,890-yard course on Sunday to finish with a winning 659, eight shots ahead of Whitworth, but almost every team’s score went up on the second day, some dramatically, mainly due to adverse weather conditions of cold, rain, and strong winds throughout the day.
Nap led the Bruins with an 81-80=161, finishing third in the individual standings. Kelsey Morrison, the first-round leader by a stroke, ended with a 76-86=162 and slipped back to fourth. Jill Westendorf shot an 86-82=168 to tie for seventh, Sarah Askin had an 88-83=171 to tie for 11th, Abby Mann carded an 85-86=171 to tie for 11th, and Mandy Cameron finished with an 86-86=172 to place 14th.
The NWC Fall Classic was the final match of the fall season for all the conference teams.

* Nap Named Bruin Athletic Association Athlete of the Week
By leading George Fox to the championship of the Northwest Conference Fall Classic for the second year in a row, Brianna Nap has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Women’s Athlete of the Week for Oct. 18-24. The senior All-American from Deer Park, Wash., carded an 80-81=161 on the par-73, 5,890-yard Lost Tracks Golf Course in Bend, Ore., to finish third in the individual standings, four shots off the pace of medalist Sarah Bicker of Puget Sound. Her efforts led the Bruins to a team score of 328-331=659, eight shots ahead of Whitworth. An All-Conference and All-West Region performer last year, Nap is the third Bruin golfer to win the Bruin Athletic Association award this fall, joining Kelsey Morrison, a two-time winner for Sept. 20-26 and Oct. 4-10, and Jill Westendorf, who won it for Oct. 11-17.
